2Is the MetaTrader 5 platform free?

Yes. You can use MT5 from Scandinavian Markets for free. We own an enterprise license from MetaQuites Software Corp, which allows us to offer trading accounts to our clients.

3Can I switch from MetaTrader 4 to MetaTrader 5?

Yes. If you already have an MT4 account with Scandinavian Markets, you can transfer your balance to an MT5 account to start trading. Unfortunately, we cannot transfer open positions or trading history.

1What is the difference between MT4 and MT5?

On the surface, MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 don’t look too different. While MT5 does have a moderate facelift with some extra charting features, most of the differences are under the hood. MT5 is technically much superior and designed for multi-asset class trading, while MT4 was built with just forex trading in mind.

2What programming language does MT5 use?

MT5 uses MetaQuotes Language 5 (MQL5), which is more powerful and allows for more advanced programming features than MQL4 used in MT4. While the language and syntax is similar, MQL5 offer far more functionality.

3Can I use my EA or custom indicators from MT4 in MT5?

Unfortunately, MT4 and MT5 use different programming languages (MQL4 and MQL5, respectively). However, many EAs and indicators have been rewritten for MT5, or you can rewrite your MQL4 code in MQL5.
